Monday we tried out the Länder-Tickets (regional day ticket) and took the train to Hannover.

After we walked around Hannover's city center for a bit - and stopping in to a Reformhaus for some trail mix and GF cookies - we hopped on the S-Bahn and headed to Herrenhäuser Gärten.

After we walked around for a bit we decided to find a nice shady spot and eat our lunch. The first nice shady spot we found was taken - which reminds me. One of the things I love about Europe, and I mean big puffy heart love, is that it is totally ok to pack a lunch. you see people all over the place eating food that they have brought with them. Makes a celiac not stand out so much. anyway, we found another shady bench and not two seconds after we sit, we hear movement behind us. Christian turns around to look and sees - yes, sees - a mouse. Y#all know how much I love mice, so we quickly found another bench. Not two seconds after sitting, we hear the same noise. Grrr. Third bench, I see a mouse. Son of a... ok. I am not ashamed to admit that we ate our lunch on a bench in the middle of a clearing. Oh yeah... no mice for me.
I did learn a valuable lesson, though. GF pasta is NOT good unless it is fresh. I ended up picking the vegetables and meat out of rock hard pieces of pasta. Oh, and the cooler things we bought suck, so my yogurt was too warm to eat... and the GF cookies we bought at the Reformhaus? I tried one and the rest went in to the trash. Blah!
Here are the rest of the pictures.
